Rosser School enrolled in MMSM Bag Up Manitoba, a program of Take Pride Winnipeg. Since the fall of 2008, elementary schools in Manitoba have collected nearly ten million plastic bags for recycling into free Frisbees, bird houses, planter boxes, bird feeders and benches for their schools. On October 10th, 2019 the students at Rosser School had perfect snowman making conditions. Lots of fun was had with the freshly falling snow. A reminder that warm and protective winter clothing is important for students to have, even in October!
On Monday September 23, 2019 the Rosser Fire Department came to Rosser School. The students enjoyed the interactive presentation in learning about fire fighters and fire safety. Highlights included trying on firefighter gear, climbing on the fire trucks and reviving bags with fire safety materials.
On Septmeber 20th, 2019 Rosser School hosted it’s annual Terry Fox Run. It was a very rainy and stormy day, but the weather calmed so the students could head outside to do their run around the hard top. Last week the students set a goal of $500 dollars. Students brought in nickles and dimes to school on Monday, quarters on the Wednesday and toonies/loonies on Friday. The students raised $619.70!
Changes have occurred at Rosser School. The following are a few up the improvements made over the summer: New doors on cupboards in all classrooms: New furniture in classrooms: Hallways de-cluttered and painted: Shelves and hooks were removed from the Gym/MPR: New Lockers in the MPR room: New garbage and recycling bins for the outdoor classroom and entrance way: New TV to showcase student work and school pictures:
Rosser School had a field day on Tuesday June 25th. Stations included field games, water balloons, parachute games, an obstacle course bouncy castle, sumo wrestling, and a food craft making Oreo bees/crabs. Great fun was had by students, staff and parents. There was a BBQ lunch that was sponsored by the Rosser Elementary Parent Advisory Council (REPAC). On Wednesday June 19th the Kindergartens took part in gymnastics training at the RCCC. Thanks to the volunteers who helped make this happen. It was great to see the partnership between the RCCC and Rosser School.
Rosser School went to Camp Manitou on Monday June 17th for a fun end of year field trip! Thanks to the Rosser Elementary Parent Advisory Council for sponsoring this event. Thanks to all of the parents who volunteered to attend! Students participated in zip-lining, archery, fishing, bannock making, and gym games. The Bike Rodeo at Rosser School on June 14th was a great success! The day was filled with physical activity, safety, food and fun! The grade 3/4 class started off the day at Grosse Isle School and biked to Rosser. All students were able to ride the entire way! There were quick water and orange slice breaks along the way. There was a presentation from the South Interlake Regional Library at Rosser School on Thursday June 13th.
